The
fair site is attractive, as the temple which is its focus overlooks the
river Sabarmati, Akul and Vyakul. It is one of the largest purely adivasis
fair of the border region. The Garasia and Bhil adivasis dress in their
customary colorful costumes.
The men's costume generally consist of a
blue shirt and white dhoti and red saffron or turban. Women
wear ghaharas
which have a circumference of as much as 20 yards, and are covered from
head to foot with ornate and heavy silver jewellery, using liquid kumkum
while their eyes are outlined by kajal.
Every group visiting the fair
has its own drum, and the atmosphere come alive with the incessant beat
of numerous drums. The women sing folk songs, and everyone dances. There
are various kinds of eating and drinking stalls in the fair accompanied
with giant wheel, and merry-go-round which never cease to spin.
