  Happenings in the Fair:
 


Over 300 stalls are set up on the fair site, selling numerous objects and offering various types of food and refreshment. 

There are exhibitions of embroidery, a cattle showand competitive sports.The famous ras, garba are features of the fair.The folk music and folk dances are the principal attractions of the fair.

   
  History:  
     
 

History of fair is linked with the story of Draupadi's Swayamvar and it is said that it was at this place that the great archer Arjun performed the difficult task that won him his bride. A pole was erected in the centre of the kund and a fish was kept rotating at the top of the pole, at top speed. The contestant was suppose to climb up, blance himself with one foot on eah of the two scales suspened there and looking at the reflection of the fish in the kund, pierce its eye with an arrow.

 
 

There is an old Shiv temple which still exist. The present temple was build on the banks of a rivulet and has a kund in traditional manner.The temple is constructed in the 14th century in a traditional style.As this fair is one of the important fair's in Gujarat's Saurashtra region, the Tarnetar fair is attempted by 50,000 people.
