CHANA-NI DAL-NA VADA (Bengal Gram Vada)
(Appetizers of Gujarat)

Ingredients Metric

bull.gif (140 bytes) Green chilies (ground) 6
bull.gif (140 bytes) Ginger small piece
bull.gif (140 bytes) Turmeric 1/4 tsp.
bull.gif (140 bytes) Oil for batter 1 tblsp
bull.gif (140 bytes) Onion (chopped) 2 tblsps
bull.gif (140 bytes) Coriander leaves (chopped) 1 tblsp
bull.gif (140 bytes) Oil for frying
bull.gif (140 bytes) Salt to taste
Procedure
Yield : 8 People
  1. Soak dal overnight or for 6 to 8 hours.
  2. Drain and grind coarsely.
  3. Add remaining ingredients, and mix well.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon oil and mix in with the paste.
  5. Form into medium-sized vadas, and deep fry on a medium fire till light brown.
  6. Serve hot.
