LILA MARCHA NU ATHANU
(Green Chilli Pickle)

Description
A relish of green chillies, flavoured with ginger-garlic and spiced with pickle masala. Shelf Life is 15 days to 1 month if preserved properly. This pickle is a temporary one and does not last for a longer period.
 
Ingredients Metric

bull.gif (140 bytes) Coriander seeds 15 gms
bull.gif (140 bytes) Garlic Paste 15 gms
bull.gif (140 bytes) Ginger Paste 15 gms
bull.gif (140 bytes) Red Chilli Powder 10 gms
bull.gif (140 bytes) Mustard Oil 100 gms
bull.gif (140 bytes) Salt 35 gms
bull.gif (140 bytes) Lime Juice 200 mls
 
Procedure
Yield : 700 gms
  1. Wash and clean green chillies. Cut each chilli into 2 parts.
  2. Roast coriander and kalonji, cool and pound to a coarse powder

Cooking :

  1. Heat oil, and ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute, add powdered masala, chilli powder and salt. Mix well. Switch off the fire.
  2. Add cut green chillies and lime juice. Mix once again.
  3. Fill into a clean glass jar. Tie a piece of a muslin cloth on the lip of the jar and replace the cap. Keep the jar in the sun for 2 days.
